Why you need Wayfinding Signs

In response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy, from the 23rd January 2023 an update to the Fire Safety Regulations 2022, means it is now compulsary for all resifdential buildings above three storeys, to display Wayfinding Signs to assist firefighters in the event of an emergency. Signs must also  be displayed in stairways to assist with floor and flat identification on each level in the event of a fire emergency.

To make sure you are fully compliant with the new Wayfinding legislation, you must, at a minimum, display:

• Floor designation signs
• Flat designation signs (with directional arrows if required).

To make sure you have the right signs you need for your building, all of the signs in this section are avialable to add your own numbers/letters.

To be compliant, floor identification signs must have a minimum letter height of 50mm for text and 75mm for numerals (Appx. 15.14.b), and flat identification signs must have a minimum letter height of 25mm for text and 37.5mm for numerals (Appx. 15.16.c).
