What is a QR Code?

QR Code stands for Quick Response Code and is type of digital barcode that was invented in 1994.

A QR Code is a machine-scannable image that can instantly be read using a Smartphone camera. When your Smartphone scans this code, it translates that information into something that is easily understood and provides a digital link for customers to view menus and, depending on the venue's ordering system, a QR Code can also put the ordering experience in the customers hands by allowing them to make contactless orders and payments.

HOW HOSPITALITY VENUES CAN BENEFIT FROM USING MOBILE QR CODE MENUS

Convenience

The primary benefit of QR codes is that they’re convenient for you and your customers. For the customer, they won’t have to keep on waiting for the server to arrive at their table with a physical menu. Plus, you can give them enough time to decide on what they would like to order without pressuring them with the presence of your staff.

This can be very useful for lunch and dinner times, when your front of house staff are busy taking and serving orders. You can even improve the convenience factor by allowing customers to use the QR code to place and pay for their order from their table.

Staff Spend Less Time Taking Orders & More Time Serving

By using QR Code Menus and ordering, the need for customers to come to the bar to order food and drinks or waiting on staff going to tables is reduced. Your Front of House staff can spend less time on sales transactions and more time serving your customers. Faster ordering can mean a quicker table turnaround, which can help increase the revenue of venues with limited seating due to Covid restrictions.

Hygiene

QR codes are hygienic because menus don't need to be passed from your servers to the customer, and then back to your staff again. They help reduce the risk of contamination in your establishment, since customers can just open the menu on their smartphones and order from there.

QR codes remove items from being passed from one pair of hands to another. You can even supplement this strategy with contactless payment and incorporating NHS Sign In / Track and Trace data capture.

Digital Menus: Cheaper to Maintain, Faster to Update

Digital menus are easy to manage and update. You can quickly add specials and out of stock items can be removed. without worrying about updating its physical counterpart. This way, you won’t have to keep on printing a new set of menus.
